The learner will further define effective uses of technology for a specific budgeting lesson.
The learner will take original lesson and incorporated some technologies from personal tech toolbox.
The learner will redesign lesson to include effective tech tools.
The learner will create activities that correspond with the lesson.
The learner will present lesson using Power Point, Movie Maker, Wikispaces, and Teacher Tube and/or YouTube..
Gap: The participants already know how to construct a lesson plan. They understand the needs of their learners and they can create a multifaceted lesson to meet the needs of diverse learners. I want them to be able to take those exemplary lessons and attach effective technologies to them to illuminate the curriculum and improve the critical thinking skills of each learner. The gap is the use of effective technologies when designing an exemplary lesson to reach the below target, on target, and above target learner.
The Task -One Day Lesson Plan Draft
The task of the participants is to design a simple budgeting lesson that will span one 50-minute class period (due to time limitations, we want to make sure that we can devote the proper amount of time for each task so that educators can holistically see the process to the end). The participants will work in groups of two (there are 12 participants and they will form six groups). The groups selection will be randomly done by matching color coded circles on the back of each packet (each packet has a colored circle; only two have the same color, grouping will done accordingly). These two participants will remain partners for the duration of the workshop. The first draft of the lesson plan will be simple and void of technology or at least web based multimedia resources. So, the business teachers will draft a simple plan that will allow the studentsto reach specific objectives without integrating web based technology. A link has been provided on the home page of each teachers wiki and it is also available in the conference packet with step by step directions for accessing and saving from Google docs. The following link will be used
(https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZHm35ObiWOnyKvgvBldT3yS2o2V6oByhgDNuoIrIKAE/edit) for teacher to access the lesson plan template online. Teachers will be encouraged to work within Google docs and then download the completed drafted and save it in Word. They can print the document after saving.
ONE DAY DRAFT LESSON PLAN (GROUP)
TECH TOOLBOX CREATED AFTER ROUGH DRAFT (GROUP)
After the draft lesson plan is completed, the teachers (partners) will pool resources and create their tech toolboxes by sharing their tech pairing activities results and searching for additional resources on the Internet as time permits. The teachers will use their tech toolboxes to help them pair activities from the draft lesson plan with technology/multimedia tools from the tech toolbox.
FINAL COPY OF LESSON PLAN (GROUP)
After pairing activities from draft lesson plan with appropriate tech resources from tech toolbox, the teachers (grouped partners) will redesign their draft lesson plan to reflect effective technology integration. This lesson will be the final draft used to create the lesson presentation using Power Point for workshop authentic assessment assignment. The teachers will go back and edit the lesson plan draft created in Google docs and save it as Final Draft and Group Letter (FinalDraftGroupA) to be used to complete their Lesson Plan presentation.
